Southern California Youth Cricket Academy (SCYCA) is an independent organization founded under the umbrella of Orange County Cricket Association OCCA), a nonprofit 501.c.3 organization responsible for development of Cricket in Orange County and neighboring Counties. Focus and goal of SCYCA is to foster the game of cricket at grassroots level and to create an environment to play the game of Cricket in the spirit and tradition in which it is played.
Many of SCYCA’s volunteer administrators’ and coaches’ dedication and consistent efforts have been instrumental for the steady development and improvement of Southern California Youth Academy. SCYCA is conducting Cricket training geared for all groups, skilled or beginners, from ages 6 -19 years. Cricket coaching is offered weekend and on weekday evenings at an affordable cost. SCYCA is primarily responsible for development of cricket in structured manner which has been an organic, small-scale, “Bottom-up” process driven by proactive approach, creating youth cricket clubs, and introducing cricket to schools in Orange County. This has prompted large scale, “top-down”, planned interventions by USA Cricket (USAC), National Governing Body for Cricket in USA, an associate member of International Cricket Council (ICC). USAC is implementing planned and coordinated process to ensure long-term sustainability of cricket at a community level.
