The first game in a two-game series between SCYCA and San Diego ended with nail-biting finish, but it was the second 30-over game that made sure the SCYCA U-15 team grabbed the attention of the Southern California youth cricket community. The SCYCA team achieved this success in less than two years since its founding.
San Diego CC Youth Association posted a low total on the board at the end of the 30 overs on September 18, the first match-up of the series. SCYCA’s Andrew grabbed 3 wickets and gave away only 9 runs, while only Joel and Gaurav reached double digits for San Diego. SCYCA stared the innings steadily with Trishul scoring 24 runs off 25 balls. San Diego ran out two top order batsmen, Trishul and Andrew; SDCCYA’s excellent fielding made runs difficult to come by. Knishk tried to take SCYCA take home safely, but the team was 4 runs short at the end.
The second, deciding match was held on September 25. Batting first SDCCYA scored 114 runs against SCYCA. Noah and Trishul put a solid start for SCYCA. Andrew joined Trishul and took SCYCA to a convincing 8 wicket win, securing SCYCA’s first series win.
